Is this a commoner's gown in parti-colors? Cause it's kinda cool.

And I could totally do one of these, given it's short sleeved nature.

And for as much as I dont like flemish... I like this shift. A lot.

That totally makes sense, and is inline with what the painting shows. I could do this gown.

I am rather inclined to believe that you can do any gown that you decide you want. :-D

Yes, there's can. I can physically create this gown. And there's can. I can do this without going, ew flemish.

Is it that you hate "flemish" because everyone is doing it, and not all are doing it correctly?

Notice the "" around the word. There's a lot to play with in the low countries and surround. There's also a long period of time to play with. I have seen dress number 1 described as "flemish" and technically you could also call my clothes "flemish" as a modern usage referring to dress from this whole region.
The word "flemish" is bandied about far too much, kinda like "muffin top" in a sense that it annoys me as it doesn't really say anything. The top of a muffin is usually quite yummy, but I know that you are referring to a badly dressed, slightly overweight young woman, in the same sense that flemish is one portion of a culture in a period of time, yet the term now-a-days is referring to a broader period and geography.

Yes. Sort of.

I more don't like the fact that if you ask for lower class German or for German cooking you are pointed to "flemish". Its as if all of Germany is in that area. Part of it is that I like to do things that are different and not be done by lots of people.

It may be that my opinion may be clouded by what the current perception of Flemish.

I know mine is, about the same way "Elizabethan" is...I'm not that either. I am French.

Follow your heart, look to the paintings of other cultures for inspiration, see what and how they are wearing clothing. You will begin to have a good feel for what you are trying to do. Though it may be difficult to bring these ideas to the outside, explaining to other costumers, you'll know in your heart what was worn by your chosen women.

Thank you.

It is hard finding people that understand that I can't just follow the other sheep in the herd.
