Pennsic project updates

Yesterday was remarkably productive. I am currently ahead of schedule. Linen is going down, garments are going up. Today is technically a sewing day off, but if my lungs do not start cooperating... there will be no fencing tonight (for the record, breathing is NOT overrated).

I have been struggling with down time. I was filling the bus/car rides/hanging out with people with the waffenrok embroidery and then favor embroidery. I think I found my solution... I can work on sleeve ties. Those pesky things need to be hand sewn as I am not using cord. I need 8 ties (4 bows) per sleeve, I have 8 sleeves, and I can get one done per bus trip. In theory, I can get them all done in 32 days. One down, 63 to go.

And I have just come to the realization I need more buttons. Finding good quality, boring metal buttons is hard. Sigh... its always about the buttons.

1. I finished the Pickle Dress (minus closures and sleeve ties)


2. Crimson Dress: completely cut out and ready to sew.

3. Pants: created pattern and cut out 2 pairs.

4. Bear Dress: removed the offending bodice parts, cut new bodice parts, completed edging on one sleeve.

5. Favors: 5 blue cut, 2 white emblems sewn.

6. Misc: went shopping for notions.

7. Zot: still heppen', this time champion's favors and my scissors. At least it's not the hot iron this time.

Seamstress tested, cat approved.

I am not sure helping is the right word for it. It seems that it isn't a completed project until she has napped on it. And if it's linen, all bets are off. Though playing with the hot iron is a new one. At least she has stopped trying to play with the machine needle as it goes up and down.

Oddly the other cat likes wool better.

All this and I have final day of grad school tomorrow, as well as going away to nanny till monday.

Hah! You know you're right. This is why I have a calendar, and you are the voice of reason. Though I suppose I could squeeze something in the spot of 3 days to get random crap done.
