Seriously, this tree is playing havoc with my ability to breathe. Anyone know what it is? I know it's a crappy picture, but my cell is all I had with me. Also this tree is in the Philly area, blooming now.

I *think* it's a Linden... Tillia cordata of some sort, possibly, if it's a street tree. Difficult to say, but it looks like the blossoms have the distinctive little "wings" on each cluster, and leaf shape is right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tilia-cordata2.JPG ??

...I love them. But I don't have allergies. ;) Good luck, they don't bloom for very long.

Also a possibility. Same genus, different species. :) Don't know where this particular tree is planted, but I know Basswood gets HUGE.

They are planted up and down the street as shade trees.

More than likely T. cordata or similar, then... Basswood is a 50'+ tall tree ideally suited to large open spaces.

But either still will cause you misery, I think. Take comfort in that they will be done blooming within a week or so. :)
