Epic fail: sugar

Rule 1: Sugar and water are NOT friends.
Rule 2: Egg whites are mostly water.
Rule 3: Royal icing is sugar and egg whites
Rule 4: royal icing will seperate when stored in the fridge.

Apparently I forgot this little bit of trivia when I applied the royal icing to my rock hard gum paste sugar tail for sparky. Long story short the sugar tail cracked in 3 places.

Goo news I bought a roll of plaster for just this type of oppsy. Bad news... I had to use it. Now I am waiting for it to dry so I can apply the final layer of sugar befor the fondant tomorrow.

Plaster is a period method for making this type of repare. And I did not have to use duck tape this year.

I am just glad Sparky's head didn't fall off.I knew this project was moving along too smoothly.
