[recap]Mudthaw
Mar. 29th, 2011 06:10 pmI think I have recovered from Mudthaw, only to have come down with a cold. Long day was long and very rewarding. We had a great kitchen day and once again I was blessed to have some of the most talented chefs in the East come to play with me. We succeeded in getting bacon into 2 dishes. There was bacon on the salad and the slow roasted beef had been larded in bacon. I tried out a couple of GF recipes for my celiac folks and those went over well. Menu scroll for the head table turned out amazing. All of Ian's research into the bee scroll here.
In other Mudthaw news, Lissa was made a member of the Maunche, Lillia was made a member of the Silver Crescent, Katya and Sterling were given Burden Tygers. I showed my work for the first time at the Athena's Thimble and received competency beads for applique and embroidery. I was told my work was good enough for period competency, but I lacked the documentation needed for that rank. Needless to say was stunned. I got some advice for how to make my stuff even better and got a lead on where to purchase metallic threads. I fit 3 people for garments and delivered the cloak.
I worked until Jadwiga sent me home sometime around 10:30 or so. It was a good day. We had a couple of minor glitches but as long as the people in the dining hall didn't realize they happened, then no harm no foul. We were ready on time, no one starved and no one got sick. So I'm calling this day a win.
