I really don't like beading.  Makes me all sorts of not right in the head. However, I love how it comes out in a project. I especially love how it feels when it is applied to velvet.  Fortunately for me, Swabian dresses usually only have one sleeve of the dress beaded.  The Swan Dress is based roughly on this dress. I am making progress, but there are a lot of beads to go.

I am just going to point you to the relevant bits, mainly because [livejournal.com profile] hsifeng wrote a better write up than I can come up with.

  1. [livejournal.com profile] harmanhay made several cool dresses.
  2. She is kinda crazy with the hand sewing and the beading.
  3. She is making another dress (or as much of a dress as she gets donations for) to raise money for Haiti.  "The first forty people who can raise $5000 each for the continued relief effort in Haiti will spend a week there from June 20th, 2011 and help rebuild a shattered community with their own hands."
  4. Full details of the project here.
  5. If you donate, you get to follow her progress in a private locked LJ, Peacock Dress filter.
If you can spare it, donate. It's a very worthy cause.  So far, she's wearing a petticoat and drawers.
