Noisemakers recap
Mar. 8th, 2010 05:31 pmNoisemakers happened on Saturday. It was a really nice, low key event. There were a couple of minor kerfuffles, but nothing that wasn't easily fixed or handled. More lessons to be remembered for next time. The naailbinded toe cozy was a HUGE hit. It received a lot of kudos. Thanks again annyswolf!
Lunch was spectacular. The home made sausage was absolutely divine. In the afternoon, after having lunch, I was able to sit in on lumineaux's court heraldry class. It was really neat. There is a lot that goes into running court. Missing scrolls, docket configuration, and OMG the names... Ubiq31 and argent_tyger were also in the class, so it was pretty fun. Reading scrolls is very similar to interp reading. During the practice scroll reading, I was really nervous. But once my brain kicked in and remembered that I knew how to do this type of reading, I settled down and had fun. I would probably like to take the longer version of the class. There was a lot to learn.
I got to put into practice what we learned in class during court (which was the plan- to use the class participants as the day's court heralds). I read 2 back log scrolls for ubiq31 and klynn330. And that was a lot of fun. I only flubbed a couple of times, but people in the back could hear me. So that was good. It was my first time on the stage in a baronial capacity. I then realized, I was suppose to be up there as A & S champion as well. Court was lovely. There were some fantastic performances.
I spent a bit of time sitting in one spot "so people could find me if needed". I think it was a secret plot by everyone to not let me get too over extended. It worked. I was able to get through the whole day in one piece. IanRaven gently asked me at the end of the day, "how old are you now?" Which was a great thing to ask me. I think he could tell I was starting to get at that point where I was almost on information overload. It was an technique that I have used with my special needs cousin. That simple question allowed me to come back into focus and get the rest of the clean up done.
Once I got to the after party, had some drugs, liquid and pizza, life was much better. It was a wonderful party with many, many quotes. Best of the weekend: "just keep licking". Most of yesterday was spent sleeping and recovery. Even though I didn't do much, it still took a lot out of me.
Photos are here.
A great many people helped out, teaching classes, shlepping chairs, cooking, gating, consults, cleaning, organizing and whatever else needed to be done. Setup and cleanup were done in record time. Special thanks to katnboots for class scheduling,violet_amy for cooking, beckishadow (and other heraldy types) for the consult table, binsteaj for gate, and spinpsycology for playing fetch monkey (mmmm lunch) and photo proxy.
And finally, thank you math5 for letting me run your event and helping me with everything else.
