I was asked to make a cloak for [livejournal.com profile] lily_penhille 's elevation to the Order of the Pelican. I was very touched and honored to be able to be a part of the occasion.  She was elevated at Roses.  Finally, I can post the pictures of the project. :D

Cloak details:
  • 1/2 circle cloak of lightweight dark blue wool, lined in dark red linen. Cloak is 1/2 length with a period stand up collar.
  • Embroidered pelican badge done in Cotton Pearl, using stem stitch, laid/couched stitch, split stitch, couched basket weave
  • Embroidered badge attached to the cloak in gold work using detached buttonhole stitch.
  • Collar is whipped stitched onto cloak.
  • Internal seams were machine sewn.
  • White linen fleur-de-lys appliques gold worked using detached buttonhole, stitch
  • Gold work running stitch along seam lines for hand sewn finish details.
  • Gold fleur-de-lys frog clasps to complete the closures

It also went *really* well with the dress. I hope to have pictures up either tonight or tomorrow.

Perfect! Glad to hear. That was a gamble as I had no idea what the dress was being made from.

Thanks.

I use front spiral lacing. Though some of the roks shown in the book use front buttons.

Lovely! I need to send Mistress Lylie my best wishes and bullsh-, er, peerly advice, too, while I'm thinking about it.
