I have been cooped up in the house for a week. A week of sitting on my butt, not doing much of anything. So Saturday was a scheduled project day at the house.

I was so excited that people were coming over, I tried to clean. I got as far as the bathroom. 1 1/2 hours later, I was done and exhausted. No catastrophes occurred, though there were a couple of close calls. I decided it was in my best interests to not do anymore. Telescope_merc helped me get the rest of things in order Saturday morning (he's good like that).

People showed up around two. It was wonderful to see everyone. There were Santa corpse oatmeal cookies and conversation. Argent_tyger had to remind me to breathe as I was trying to get a weeks worth of talking to people out in 10 minutes. Knitting happened, naailbinding happened, cuff embroidery was started, site tokens for Bog birthday were started, video gaming happened, pizza was ordered and consumed, and much fun at my expense was had. Apparently Wendy on drugs is great amusement for all. IanRaven regaled us with one of our (his/mine) conversations that we had earlier in the week. OMG funny. Sometimes I hate his DOG. It records everything.

My knee scooter came over the weekend. This is what it looks like. I ended up just buying one. Renting for one surgery would end up costing 780 (that includes a deposit but still that is almost 800 upfront). Multiply that by 2 as we are doing the other foot later this year, and you can see how just paying 375 is much cheaper in the long run. IanRaven helped me put it together. And by put it together I mean he took it out of the box and attached the knee seat. Then I was off. Varoooooooom. I can now run circle around the kitchen island and chase down the cats.

Once everyone went home, I basically crashed. And today I spent most of the day sleeping. I didn't realize how much everything takes out of me. I am not use to being this weak and non-productive. I am coming back to normal slowly. I can go longer between pain meds and that is real progress. I have a full week to get more healing in me before K & Q next weekend.

So, about the barter for the stocking cap. I'd like this: http://myra.hem.nu/costume/costume_framset.htm
Let me know what level of embroidery (the reenactor's is rather simple compared to the examples) would be a fair trade for the cap. I can do some if not all the embroidery myself.

Apparently the link sends you to her main page, not the dress I wanted you to see. If you mouse-over the photos on the left, click on the one that says Gallery links, then take a look at the 1490's embroidered dress.

That is lovely. That will probably take a while to do, but I am totally up for it. Are we doing this on Velvet? The dress seems easy enough.

I will want to do a double of you so that I can get the correct draping. Also when are you looking to do this? I have several projects that I need to get done. I am looking at maybe June/July that I can think of starting this.

But that will be an amazingly wonderful gown to build.

June/July is fine, there's no way I'll get to the stocking cap soon anyway. It seems like most of the gowns in the period paintings are velvet with maybe some in indistinguishable fabrics. I'll have to go looking for velvets. I do have some other fabrics that might do as well.
