alysten1. Cosmic muffin says no more SCA. What do you do with your free time?
Probably go back to coaching high school speech and debate. I did this for 8 years in MA and it was very rewarding. I like teaching, though not enough to do it for money. I very much respect those that do. I like the volunteer aspect. I like that the kids call me Wendy and not ms so n so. And I can say,"quick like a bunny on crack" and not have to worry about the school board. Most events are on Saturdays. Most SCA events are on Saturdays. I had to trade one for the other. But I am still teaching in the SCA, so I haven't lost that aspect.
2. Why sewing?
Because my mother said I would never be able to sew a straight stitch to save my life. I was 8. Tell me I can't do something is usually the easiest way to actually get me to do something. Im not big on the word can't.
3. What is your favorite thing to cook/bake?
This is a two-fer. Cooking and baking are two totally different skill sets. Cooking is creative, baking is well, following a chemistry experiment, consistantly.
For cooking, I love to make Cioppino, Spanish style. A savory seafood stew in a tomato base with saffron, crab, shrimp and clams in their shells. NOM. Baking... hmmm I think it would have to be cookies. I'm a big fan of making them. My chocolate chip cookie recipe is to die for and worth the price of culinary school to get it(which is what I paid...) Though Im becoming a big fan of bread baking. Something cathartic about that.
4. Best adventure you have been on?
I'd have to say going to Burning Man before it became "commerical". Watching a storm race across an open desert was the most amazing, awesome display of raw power I have ever seen. Even to this day.
5. What do you want to be when you grow up?
Happy. It is all I have ever wanted. I want to find happy in every job I work no matter what the job is.
