Ok... so I have these arms.  Alys helped me with them. They are very nice arms...but they are boring.  Young SCAdian, probably should have listened to the wise herald when she said wait a little before doing a device. Did I listen... not so much.  But hey, I got a cool name out of the deal.

I know that if I go with a new devise I would need to release the ones I currently have. I really like my badges.  They truly reflect me and they are puny: swords skewering a crow, a pair of nom-nuts and a cannon with a spool of thread. I want to design something that is more, me. Something equally punny, and fun and that reflects my "personality".

Now if I was listening to the heralds correctly this weekend, pink is not a valid color, but red is.  I can't do fleur-de-bugs, but I could do fleur-de-lys (officially) and then get "creative" (unofficially).  And using "Fleur-de-lys (gold fleur-de-lys on blue fields) - The use of three, or a semy of, gold fleur-de-lys on anything blue is so strongly associated with the Royalty of France that their use in SCA arms is considered presumptuous." So... as long as Im not using gold or blue, then I should be ok.

I love the colors, red and black being my favorites and the shield with the stripe that goes sinister (?) diagonally(?).

Here is one idea we were throwing around earlier today. (yes the pot would be more medieval, it's just a concept)

Any other suggestions?

That idea is intriguing too. It would need to be more English, less Scottish as Cranlegh is 30 miles from London. I am looking for things that match my personality, fun, yet, still heraldicly correct.

I like the bend sinister with the fleurs de lys. That orientation was Bruni's idea.

Take a look at some of the period armorials for ideas too:

I'm primarily a names geek - Lillia and Bruni are stronger on armory than I am - but I can point you in research directions.

And while I was cranky for all of 5 seconds about my name choice. I think we did awesome! And I get a cool story out of the whole process as well.

Oooo... those are cool. It looks like the English were into things in threes.
