Project days
Sep. 6th, 2009 05:49 pmI have several new people on my f-list that may be un-aware of how project days work.
I open my home up once or twice a month for project days. We usually have a communal dinner of some sort. Gaming has been known to happen and I have wireless in the apt for those that want to game/do research. My skills lie in the areas of cooking, sewing, color theory, project management and like and I am willing to help/cojole/mentor/companion anyone who would like to work on these types of projects. If you have projects where you need help/motivation to get started/completed, then this is the place for you. Even if all you need is someone to keep you company while you try stuff out or are working on things, you are welcome to come do so with other like mined people.
We have had as many as 10 show up for project days and as few as 3. I host because I have stuff that needs to get done and I like company.
FAQ:
Q. Do I have to be a member of Tadcaster or Bhakail or the SCA to come to project day?
A. No, though a good number of people fall into one of these buckets.
Q. Who can come to project day?
A. This is open to ANYONE on my Friend List. If you are on the list, you are welcome in my home.
Q. Where is project day?
A. If you live in Philly, close to Philly, are willing to drive to Philly, come on down.
Q. How far in advance do you post project days notice?
A. Usually a month out. I try to work around the current SCA schedule of events that I know I or a majority of people are going to. Project days are posted in a friend locked post.
Q. What do you feed us?
A. Whatever people feel like eating. Food is always cooked (not ordered out). Sometimes experimentation happens. Feel free to throw money/ bring a snack/ do dishes towards the communal contribution (but not required). Tacos, goat cheese chicken, pork chops, bbq lamb and ho tdogs, chili, jambalaya, duck have all been known to happen.
Q. What can I work on?
A. Sewing, garb repair, knitting, spinning, research, cooking, illuminations, crafting, beading, or anything else that can be done in an apartment.
Q. Do you have pets?
A. Unfortunately this is a cat home. I have 3 of the little furballs.
Q. Do I have to be a skilled crafty type person to get anything out of project day?
A. Nope. Novices welcome. There are enough geeky people here that someone will probably know a thing or two about something.
Q. Are there cooking projects?
A. Yes. Especially if I am getting ready for an A & S or feast prep. I like to try out recipes on people. You are welcome to come play in the kitchen. I have quite a kitchen setup and there are usually several people willing to try things to help perfect recipes.
So one more time for shits and giggles... If you are on my friends list, you are invited to project days. Any questions?
