I have decided on my projects for K & Q A & S. Now I "know" its a lonnnnnnng way off, but the two projects require a bit of research, and will take quite a bit of time to work out.

The first project is a multi-bird gallentine (AKA period turducken) complete with a reusable "bird skin". I am trying to create a "food safe" bird ( turkey, peacock, pheasant whatever I can get enough feathers for) carcass that I can use for presentation, as they would have done in period. There will be several experiments with game birds and that means quite a few project days.

The second is a type of incendiary soldiers uniform. The uniform was made out of wool, acting as a "fire retardant" material. The soldier was covered in what appeared to be linen tufts that had a small amount of gun powder sewed into a small pouch. These tufts were attached all over the soldiers uniform, looking a bit like a linen porcupine. These tufts were then set on fire as the soldiers head towards the enemy. the charges were not very large, and were many used as a scare tactic utilizing both sound and fire to scare the enemy. I will not actually be using real gunpowder due to safety reasons. But it is a research project and a costuming project. It doesn't get much cooler than that.

I have a line on pheasant. As many pheasant as you can afford, eventually...

And you are the other person I was thinking about when I made this post... I am indeed interested in pheasants! And if they aren't too pricey, probably several.

The guy, at last email, had close to 2k chicks on his property. I'll drop him a line and see if they're sale-able size yet.

Now, what would you be looking for? A whole dead bird? Cleaned with skin on? Cleaned completely?
I'm not sure what his limitations are (silly USDA.)

I don't know yet... I am looking into a possible taxidermy solution for skin/feather preservation. But probably 1 whole bird (minus insides), feathers (lots of feathers) and several completely cleaned birds.
