Book review- The sharper your knife...
Apr. 27th, 2011 05:38 pmI normally don't do book reviews. Telescope_merc's mom gave me a book for my birthday that I am rather enjoying. The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry, by Kathleen Flinn. This is the story of a middle manager who gets fired, and then decides to go to culinary school. Le Cordon Bleu, Paris to be precise. If you've ever wondered what culinary school is like or what LCB is like, then this is a good book to read. As I am reading through it, I can see the classrooms, the instructors, the practicals and the crazy butchery class. All that I was missing was the French-English translators.
And yes... I was that student. The one everyone hated because everything came "easy". Little did they see the 18 dozen eggs that ended up all over the stove top as I was learning to flip eggs and omlettes. Or the hundreds of pounds of potatoes that I peeled and turned to pass the knife skills practical.
