Iron Bog Birthday
Mar. 13th, 2010 10:02 pmToday was 'The Bog Birthday" party. A really nice low key event. All event and tourney winners were decided by bean counts. The scrolls were lovely. Miss Mina (the Marquessa) was the winner of the archery tournament. You can see her getting her very first scroll. Sterling won the heavy tournament, though his youth fighters stacked the deck in hopes of getting out of 'chores' at this week's practice. Baron Larry won the rapier tourney. And a lovely woman (name escapes me) who entered a scroll/letter of mark won the A & S tourney.
It rained all day, so the archers got inventive. They provided everyone with Nerf crossbows and stuffy, fluffy toys to shoot at. It was a wonderful indoor archery shoot. Miss Mina has a really great time, and charmed her way into the winner's circle.
Food was lovely and plentiful. Almost a small ooops when the baking soda was left out of the cake mix. But Katya was able to rescue the cake by stirring it in just before it went into the oven. Cake saved, and mmmm it was tasty. I helped out by making meatballs, which eventually became golden apples. I wasn't able to help out too much as I am not really able to get around all that well.
I traded surgery stories, as there was someone else laid up with foot injuries. I was able to get around really well at this event space, as it was all on one level, and really flat carpet. I spent a bit of time just sitting in one spot, hanging out. There are even pictures.
telescope_merc really likes the new blade. It looks like it moves well with him. Though I find the sword awkwardly large and heavy. Blades are a very individual thing. It frustrated a couple of opponents, as his hand is not as much of a target with the new guard.
oaken_glen fenced today which was a pleasant surprise. She's been taking some time off. But I could catch a little gleam of fun happening behind her mask. I think I even heard her giggle once or twice. The pool of fencer types was small, so mini bear pits broke out a couple of times.
The funnel cakes were a big hit. Though apparently many people had given up sweets for lent, so there were more left over than I had anticipated (I was going for none, but out of a 100 or so about 10 were left). I will definitely have to make these for Mudthaw.
Some embroidery happened. Which is good, since I have about 4 projects that need to be finished in relatively short order. 2 projects are almost complete, 1 is mostly started, and 1 is just thinking about being a project. One is almost in a state that I can even share.
Some time soon, I think I am going to help out the sewers of Iron Bog. There was an interesting class track for intermediate to advance sewing that is happening in another part of the Kingdom, that has interest here in our area.
collin_m volunteered me for something. I think it was a class on making duct tape doubles. Ah well, I really should work on that documentation anyway. ;-)
All in all, a happy day. I am exhausted and will sleep very well tonight. Event pics here.
