I actually made quite a bit of progress yesterday, because I made very little on Saturday. Though in true SCA event tradition, I was sewing buttons and a garter on Matt's "swiss guard vs fruit stripe" pants on the way to the EKWC.

Things on the calendar are getting removed and I only have 1 major project left that has not been started as of this time (though I have washed all the linen). Everything else has been started or is a state of mostly doneness. Calendar updates.

Project updates... )

This week will prove to be especially busy for the machine. Which is good, because most of the hand work is done and I'm running out of buttons.

I have a waffenrok. It fits, mostly. The problem is in the flex of the back, it gets a little tight. Since it is going to be a fighting waff, it needs to handle the flex. Here are the options that I have running though my mind.

1. Totally deconstruct the waffenrok into various pieces, upper, lower, sleeves. Cut a new back. Reconstruct waffenrok.

2. Cut upper waffenrok into two halves. Add panel and lacing holes, becomes a front and back lacing waff.

3. Deconstruct waffenrok into upper and lower bits. Add a wedge to back. Re construct waffenrok.

1 is the most labor intensive, 3 is the least labor intensive, but probably has the worse aesthetics. 2 is somewhere in the middle. I am open to a period style of "fixing". Or any other suggestions.

This is the first time I haven't had the person there throughout the whole process. It was made according to the measurements, but I forgot the flex. And the king is deceptively muscular. So LJ hive mind... I need the right approach to fixing the waffenrok.
