Recovery has been slow moving.  My doctor put it best and said, we heal by repair, not regeneration.  Every time you have to "go in" and "fix" something, it takes how ever long it is going to take to heal. I heal more slowly than I want apparently. I have made the transition to shoes. I can wear my girl shoes about 2 days a week, and tennis shoes the rest of the time. The tendons are tight, flexibility is coming back, but the big toe is still pretty rigid, which means more therapy.

Sucky think about the nerves coming back online is they think they can fire when ever they darn well want too. 2 am, 2:10 am, 2:20 am... you can see the pattern. I was waking up every 30 seconds with sharp electric shocks radiating out of my foot at all hours of the day and night.  Sleep had been, well, non-existent.  Apparently this is a combo of post-surgical neuralgia and the CMT (charcot marie tooth). Doc prescribed a new drug, gabapentin and WOOOO HOOOO!I got the first night of good, non-ambient  induced coma, sleep in weeks (you can ask telescope_merc about what ambient does to me).   It also knocks out all the random twitching/firing/pain associated with the CMT as well (yay bonus).

I am finally getting the right drug combo in place prior to Pennsic. I have registered with Disability services, located where I can pick up "rides" via the carts and I think camp is centrally located to everything. It will be a dry Pennsic for me, but hopefully a pain, swelling and electric shock reduced one.

I can't ask what Ambien does to you. Because then I'd have to report it to work as an "adverse event". (Even if it's nothing bad.) So don't tell me. :)

Sleepwalking

wow, I can't even begin to comment, first of all I don't wear "girl shoes" because of crushed toe at the age of 18 months-second-I don't need a drug to sleepwalk, or sleep cook, I've been told I make killer stir fry steak and blue berry muffins whilst in a deep sleep. I have been a sleepwalker since early childhood, so it worries me when I hear of others possibly suffering the same, if nothing else, the dirty socks-UGH!

Please, if you see me wandering around in a daze, tell someone, and I'll do the same for you!

Love you,
Brenda

EEEEEEVIL NERVES!!!!!!!!

as far as nerves firing "wherever they feel like it" I had my gall bladder removed 12yrs ago, ppl still laugh at the fact that they can touch me below my rib cage and I'll scream and squirm because I feel it around my belly button. It's just a matter of where those nerves reconnect themselves, and it's not where we expect (to the amusement of those who know us)
