Apologies ahead of time.  Its a bit of a drug induced ramble. Fair warning.

Today was the big "reveal" for my surgeon.  She didn't get to unwrap the bandages  in week 1 due to a death in the family.  So this is the first time she could admire her handy work, since the surgery 3 weeks ago.  My foot is healing really well (mainly in part to me being able to follow directions of stay off your darned foot).  Blood vessels/nerves have recovered and are functioning well. Still swollen, but no longer black and blue (or any other delightful color).

We had a good discussion about the pain medication and all the peripheral drugs that are needed to counter the side effects. When I told her about the night terrors, she just kind of shook her head and said, you really do have a hard time with narcotics. I talked to her about how I have been having to use the medications with the bi-pass. It is possible that I am even more sensitive due to things hitting my system faster. At least we have the formula that works come time for the next foot.

I got a really good look at my calf muscle. It is amazing how much muscle mass you can loose in just 3 weeks. Both it and my foot are very floppy.  I could barely keep my foot up when she asked me to hold it straight to get the new bandages on.  By the next appointment, I should be able to start working on build up the mass again.

Today was also remove the stitches day. There were 9 different incisions made. The stitches were deep and my body did not give them up easily.  There was much "owie, owie, owie" and breathe deep,  as they were being removed from my toes (rest of the foot was fine). New bandages and a fluffy pink toe cozy later, I was ready to go back to work, where the drugs were.  I left the office  with more sleepy drugs and more pain drugs.  The pain drugs now mostly for maintenance, as I am down to 3-4 a day, if that.

My toes demands for the abuse?  Drugs, stat and chocolate. I tried the ring dings first [all the while trying to explain to IanRaven, the demands of the aggrieved party.  during which time he realized that I could l go from being becca to CA chick in the span of 2 sentences.]. It wasn't enough. I promised I would get them chocolate fondue later.

We went to the flower show with Telescope_merc's parents.  It was all sorts of awesome. Probably made more awesome due the mind numbing effects of the narcotics. Dinner afterward was the Melting Pot in Center City.  After a glorious meal of fried and bullioned meat chunks, it was chocolate time.  I relegated everyone with the demands of the tortured toes, and we selected a dark chocolate and peanut butter finish to the night.  The server was apparently amused enough that she ended up bringing out an additional plate of brownie bites. Because my toes needed more chocolate, therefore there must be more brownies. Awesome. :D

I have my next appointment in 3 weeks. If I am still doing this well then, she will be removing the pins and putting me into a walking cast.  Hmmm.. I wonder what the toes will demand for pin removal.

I think perhaps you should just bring chocolate to the appointment for the removal. Your toes are going to be very demanding so you should start to give in to those demands as quickly as possible. A couple pounds should do.

Mmmm... preemptive chocolate strike. I can do that. Coupled with preemptive drugs. That might make the pin removal process bearable.
