Sewing machine happy dance
Mar. 3rd, 2010 06:47 pmEvery year that I am a "good employee" I use my bonus to buy something (or two) that is just for me. Two years ago it was my Darkwood blades and a move to Philadelphia. This year it was a new sewing machine and a Canon Rebel. Both camera and sewing machine came yesterday. But since the machine was supposed to come today, I waited to open it.
I cracked open sewing machine box today and promptly took out the machine and accompanying machine manual. I feel like a kid on Christmas. I have spent the last hour going over all the new features and the six styles of one-step buttonholes. Squee! It also comes with 173 different stitches (of which 5 I might use on a regular basis), 13 needle positions, and 5 different presser feet.
Since I am kinda stuck here in the house tonight due to a mis-placed washer and dryer, I am going to fire her up and see what she can do. It has been 10 years since I bought the last machine. And now that I have a new one, I can send the Pfaff off to be refurbished. That way I will have a reliably working spare.
I have been slacking on the machine projects because the Pfaff has just not been performing reliable. Now, I should be able to make a serious dent in the stack.
Woooo.

Date: 2010-03-04 12:34 am (UTC)I love my Canon Rebel. It's SLR enough, but me-proof enough.
One nice thing about it is that it accepts all of my previously purchased Canon lenses and filters. The used market for that stuff is great.
