we've got one and my wife loves it. Easy to use, easy to read on, the screen doesn't hurt the eyes, etc. She's enormously happy with it. My only issue with it is that she never lets me play with it. Only downside to it is that you'd have it linked to a credit card for ordering books, and it's just too easy to keep ordering them one right after the other. She's traveled a bit with it and occasionally you hit spots that where she can't order books, but I think you'd have that with any reader. If you intent is pleasure reading, it's marvelous. Can't say one way or the other about business reading (odd sizes, graphics, etc.)
If you do get it -- you really want to get a cover -- it's a little more, but the protection is definitely a good thing.
I really like mine. Since I'm dyslexic the text-to-speech feature is very nice. Not available for all book but nothing is perfect. With the experimental basic web browser I can check my e-mail. Its slow to do that but its free. I agree that you should buy a case.
I'll bring it with me tomorrow to let you play with it.

That was before we got him one. And now I think he couldn't imagine life without it.
