Thursday, Telescope_merc and I boarded a plane for Vegas and The Amazing Meeting (TAM). TAM is a critical thinking/skeptical meeting put on by the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF). There were over a thousand people in attendance this weekend. It was a time for nerding with like minded people. I came prepared with plenty of hand work that I needed to get done before EKWC, Champion favors, lacing holes, gussets, and the like. I worked on things during the speakers and no one gave me a hard time. The woman next to Matt was working on a sock monkey and a crocheted USB cozy. Apparently there were plenty of us working on fiber artsy type stuff that some one suggested a skeptical stitch and bitch... has potential. Yesterday were the paper presenters.Several were really good, some were dull as dirt, and some just irritated me (ok.. so they pissed me off). There was bowling and roller coasters and the annual migration to the Peppermill. It was Matt's birthday Saturday and I was able to track down a slice of chocolate cake, with chocolate icing. Ok, so it it was a brick of cake, not a slice, but I was still able to find one. :D

The most surprising thing was the Saturday morning wedding of Rebecca Watson, who we all thought would never get married. Penn and Teller and Adam Savage were part of the speaker list, and were fantastically, fabulously down to earth. I was impressed by how honest and "real" they all were.

The "ah ha" moment was the realization that I may not be like "other" women (yeah I know... I really shouldn't be surprised). I was waiting in line at the gift shop, when a fellow attendee asked if this was my first TAM (apparently the newbies have that new, shiny penny look). I explained it was, but it was my BF's 4th. "Ah ha" he says, " he finally dragged you along to one of these." Nope. I came willingly on my own. This puzzled him. He said that of all the couples that go,it is one or the other that is the skeptic and the other partner is just along for the ride. Nope. It's pretty equal in this case, though he is usually the more vocal one. This makes me "not like the others". I'm ok with that.

All in all, it was pretty amazing, no pun intended. I will go again next year.

So where does that leave the schedule since I had no access to a sewing machine for 4 days? Updated calendar. Not too bad.

I finished all of the hand work I "absolutely had" to get done before EKWC. There are a few projects that are still in the red. There aren't too many projects left on the list, but I will need all of the remaining 2 weeks to get them all done.

Project list- pics tomorrow.
