The costuming bug strikes

I spent most of today looking at spiffy fabric and shopping the bargain bin for linen remnants. At the end of the day, I am the proud owner of 6 yards of tangerine duprioni silk, 6 yards of wine iridescent taffeta and 5 yards of heather gray wool flannel . I am also the proud owner of 40 yards of various colored linen.  A good portion of the fabric is for projects already committed to or underway.  But some are in these neat colors and on sale.  I cannot wait to see them. I hope they are as delicious in person as they are on the site.

And buttons. I have a 150 buttons on the way. One can never have too many buttons.

I am thinking of doing an early Tudor dress for coronation.  Probably using the midnight  blue cotton velvet (I got this for a steal last month) with the tangerine duprioni. I saw some rabbit fur at Birka which would be a perfect trim. I am unsure of the popular opinion of fur at SCA events.

Tomorrow I will be starting to work on the finishing work on a couple of projects as they don't require me to actually be at the machine. I will probably also ink argent_tyger's cuff project. Tomorrow is also rapier practice. I might go. I may just say screw it and stay inside.  We will see how the day goes. No need to be social, when I can be inside and warm. ;-)

Fur

I'm of the opinion that if done properly, like trim on a garment, it will be well-received. That would especially apply if it is a recognized style, though my mind turns more to Eastern than Western attire.

As far as I'm concerned, the only place fur is not appropriate is those silly bikinis and the f***ing tails the rennies delight in wearing. Kinda tired of those...
